Artist's Comments
This is the second in a series of "characters" I am working on. The Machinist is a quiet and calculating man obsessed with the mechanical. He tinkers about his "workshop" day in and day out, simply staring at any who may wander in and see him. It is rumored that he works exclusively for an un-named entity of strong influence - but since he doesn't speak - he hasn't told a soul.
This started out as a cheezy photo of me smiling a the camera while wearing my new coat. I opened it up in PS and started to fiddle... and it began to take shape and direction - and once I knew exactly what I wanted for this piece - I worked obsessively until it was done. ^_^ I honestly think this is my greatest to date - I hope you enjoy it. If things go as planned, I'll be doing more of these - and perhaps when I'm done, a bit of prose surrounding all of them. The first one in this series is Celia - a ghoulish creature barely recognizable as female. She hides in the crevases and alleys of the place she inhabits, avoiding contact with anyone and everything. Umm yes. Back to the Machinist piece. Gorgeous.
I'm a big fan of what I call the "Eureka Method" (fiddling around randomly until you find soemthign you like and then build on that)
