Artist's Comments

This is the second in a series of "characters" I am working on. The Machinist is a quiet and calculating man obsessed with the mechanical. He tinkers about his "workshop" day in and day out, simply staring at any who may wander in and see him. It is rumored that he works exclusively for an un-named entity of strong influence - but since he doesn't speak - he hasn't told a soul.

This started out as a cheezy photo of me smiling a the camera while wearing my new coat. I opened it up in PS and started to fiddle... and it began to take shape and direction - and once I knew exactly what I wanted for this piece - I worked obsessively until it was done. ^_^ I honestly think this is my greatest to date - I hope you enjoy it. If things go as planned, I'll be doing more of these - and perhaps when I'm done, a bit of prose surrounding all of them.

The first one in this series is Celia - a ghoulish creature barely recognizable as female. She hides in the crevases and alleys of the place she inhabits, avoiding contact with anyone and everything. To take a look at her, click [link]

Wow. This picture is absolutely beautiful. The light/dark, golden/black contrast is great. And I like how you chose to get rid of the mouth. Interesting touch. The Celia piece though, while well done, is going to give me nightmares. Eek!

Whoa, and that was before she finished loading. Now I see her mouth and am scared as hell.

Umm yes. Back to the Machinist piece. Gorgeous.

Wow, that's pretty cool dude, it flows nicely with the background even though it's Phot Manipulated, and I like the effects you did to yourself. I'd like to see more of these kidns of images...

I'm a big fan of what I call the "Eureka Method" (fiddling around randomly until you find soemthign you like and then build on that) :D

I LOVE IT!

I like the concept and the colours used in this piece. The only thing bugging me about this is the shadowing where the mouth is missing. Shouldn't the shadowing from the dark area gradually fade into the lighter area instead of looking like it just suddenly stopped in that kind of light? Hmm...it's just something about that area that's bugging me.....otherwise it's a great piece and I love it ^_^

This is a really cool picture, it reminds me of Final Fantasy in a way, probably the rich colors and the anime hair style, good work

Thanks! When it was all finished - it reminded me of something like that as well.

Thanks much for the comment. Yeah - that bugged me too when I was working on it - and what I came out with was about as good as I could get it. The transistion was a lot sharper before - and I blurred it about as much as I could without destroying other parts of the image. :-p I think it looks a little better in full view - but I'll keep working on that shading.

:D Thank you!!!!! *hug*

Thanks again for the comments. :) I apreciate input like yours. And yes - the Eureka Method is great. ^_^

Hehehe... Thanks so much for the comments. ^_^ I'm glad you like the color scheme I used... because I use it often. :-p Celia was meant to be very creepy... so I guess it worked! :) Again - thank you so much for the kind comments. :)
